Personal Reading Log Assessment 2: The Necklace The story was about Madame Loisel attending a ball with her husband and wanted to look her best for that night. She went through the distance in her effort to get the look she desired and have borrowed a necklace from her friend, Madame Forestier. Unfortunately, at the end of the event, she lost the necklace and this is where her action has set course for the story and had cost her dearly. If she had been honest with Madame Forestier that she had lost the necklace instead of buying a new one, she would have learned that the necklace she borrowed was made of fake diamond. She went through hardship for so long until it impacted her physically and mentally just to pay off the debt that she made to replace the necklace. All of that, only to later discover that the necklace she had lost was a fake and cost, not even a fraction of what she had paid for the replacement. This is the part where if I am to change the story, I would like to see ...
Personal Reading Log Assessment 1: Mariah The short story "Mariah", written by Che Husna Azhari is a story that I find very interesting and unique, be it through the way the story was told, up to its rich content which covers many aspects and parameters of typical Malay community living in a remote village in Kelantan. The story is packed with elements that got me glued and keeps me reading until the end.  The writer can be seen having so much knowledge in the life of the Malay community living in a remote village in Kelantan as if she is one of them. I really love how she mix the element of religion along with the hustle and bustle of the village community.  The Imam, a man of high stature and well respected by the people was portrayed in a very unique way where the writer exposes to the reader the other side of the Imam which are not visible to the people around him. Despite being a man of religion, the writer somehow successfully gets the audience to accept that the Im...

The story was about a person (the narrator herself) living in a house which she realized haunted by what she described as a "ghostly couple". The narrator stated that she can hear the ghostly couple talking to each other and was looking for something as it was clearly stated in this line:  ‘Here we left it,’ she said. And he added, ‘Oh, but here too!’ ‘It’s upstairs,’ she murmured. ‘And in the garden,’ he whispered. ‘Quietly,’ they said, ‘or we shall wake them. ’ The way the narrator describe the ghostly couple was as if they were reminiscing their time together living in that house while searching for the buried treasure they left. The ghostly couple never appear physically or visually to the narrator. She just felt their presence through sound of a door shutting, or any creaking sound the house made. She had this feeling going on for quite sometim...
