Extensive Reading Activity: Insomnia

Question 2

Many people suffer from insomnia, which is a sleep disorder where the sufferer has difficulty falling asleep. This condition can bring about many health problems. What do you suggest they do? How do you think your suggestions will be able to help them?

Answer:

Insomnia has become quite common these days, in most of the cases, it was due to a hectic schedule we all are having. I myself are facing the same problem and it was up to a point where it has become very concerning. The average hours of sleep I am getting in a day was between 2 to 4 hours where normal hours of sleep for an adult is 6 to 7 hours a day. Through a lot of reading and a little bit of research, I found many ways to combat Insomnia, however only some of the methods I found works effectively on me. I find reducing the intake of nicotine and caffeine really helps. It was hard for me as I am a heavy smoker and I love coffee. What I did was to ensure that I stop taking coffee after 6pm and no cigarettes 2 hours before bed. Waking up at the same time every day is also a good way to overcome insomnia, as my mind is set to wake up at that particular time and subconsciously, it will get me ready to go to sleep accordingly. I know that it isn't much, but those two were the methods I found very effective for me to overcome my insomnia and I hope it helps everyone out there who ware facing the same disorder.
